All of us get in a rut or bored with what we are painting at some time. Artists are often guilty of "can't see the forest for the trees!" We often look so hard for something good to paint we miss what is right in front of us.  I live in the Florida Keys so palm trees, boats, cottages, etc. are painted all the time. It took going to Plein Air South and going to two demos about skies to make me realize I needed to wake up!  I live where the summer skies are landscapes themselves with fabulous cloud formations and colors. Tourists pay top dollar to be here for our sunsets. Whoa-- how could I have not seen it!  So now I take photos every time I see a fabulous sky scape.  It has opened my creativity to a whole new series.  What are you not seeing where you live and paint? Why do people travel there? Take another look around you-What do you see?
