Don't Give Up or Quit Learning
We all get incredibly discouraged some times. This is part of being an artist - it is a roller coaster ride of successes, failures, acceptance and rejection. Just like the story of the tortoise and the hare - slow and steady wins the race. Never quit striving and learning. You never know what avenues and doors may open up to you. I recently became fascinated with several artists still life work. One I especially find intriguing is Sergei Bogart's works. So - I decided to go in a bit of a different direction from my usual plein air landscapes. What I learned about value studies, composition and color by doing still life is overwhelming almost. They are quite difficult. Everyone should do them. Then my travels off the beaten path so to speak paid off -- my 8x8 titled Yellow Pepper & Friends was juried in to a special show being held at the Elliott Museum of Art located in Stuart, FL 9/15 thru 11/4. HOW EXCITING IS THAT? A MUSEUM! So - again never give up and never stop learning as you have no idea where it will take you.
