Oh No! A limited palette??
If you are a beginner a limited palette is a great way to start and know your medium. If you paint plein air a limited palette is an asset. You should definitely have one of each of the primaries. My plein air palette is fairly limited with a warm and cool of white, yellow, red, blue. I often add radiant turquoise by Gamblin and yellow ochre which helps with the color of water and sand since I live in Florida. An even more but versatile palette would be one made up of the colors closest to the true spectrum which would be cadmium yellow pale, cadmium red medium and. ultramarine blue. Secondary colors closest to the spectrum are cadmium orange, cobalt violet and permanent green. An artist's palette is a personal preference item. You will see many combinations from different artists but they all have some version of the three primaries. I've been experimenting with viridian green as a supplement as well. So......I just joined a group on Facebook called the limited palette challenge. I haven't submitted something yet but I am sure impressed with some of the items people are posting. It just goes to show that if you really want to create its possible even with only a few resources.
I have been looking for something to haul my plein air set up for ages. I have finally found something that works great. My Strada easel folds up really small and this carrier has lots of pockets, plenty of room and everything fit into it except my wet panel carriers. It has an expandable handle and is on wheels or can be picked up like a small bag...... its also extremely durable and sturdy because it was made for tools not paint gear!! I can't count the different things I have tried. HOORAY
